La Garde Freinet Overview

La Garde Freinet is a medieval style town sitting on a long narrow ledge, overlooked by high, rocky peaks and the ruins of the ancient fort. A pretty little town, with lots of shops and restaurants dotted along its narrow streets and squares.

Famed for its chestnut produce, Confiture Marron, and Chestnut Honey, gathered from the surrounding Chestnut groves.

Its history dates back to Medieval times. The Saracens built the fortress at the end of the 8th century and used it as a base to ravage Provence for the next 200 years.

La Garde Freinet is an ideal base to explore the Gulf of St Tropez and southern France.
