Cogolin
The village of Cogolin is set at the foot of the Maures hills, 9km from St Tropez and 3km from Grimaud. With a population of over 10,000 and covering an area of 2,793 acres, it reaches down to the coast at Port Cogolin and Marines de Cogolin. A sea side village very similar, as well as adjacent to, Port Grimaud.
The international airports of Nice (1hr 20min) and Toulon Hyeres (45min) provide easy access, with Frejus providing the nearest high speed and links to the rest of southern France.
Local ferries connect Port Cogolin and Marines de Cogolin to St Tropez and Ste Maxime during the summer season.
Overview of Cogolin
Cogolin has an authentic French feel, with its old paved streets and flowering squares. It owes its international reputation to the craftsmen who manufacture carpets, pipes and reeds for musical instruments.
First recorded in 1055, but with traces of Roman habitation, Cogolin is a good base to explore the surrounding area.
